Often the “work place” is the driving seat of a car.
An employee who drives 50,000 km/year in a company car spends an actual 104 eight-hour days/year at the wheel.
It is therefore of fundamental importance, in order also to comply with legal requirements (Legislative Decree 81/2008 on the improvement of workers’ health and safety in the workplace), to ensure the theoretical and practical training of those employees who use a company vehicle intensively.
For companies and institutions with car fleets, the Centro Internazionale Guida Sicura set up in 1997 specific courses which were the first on the national market to interpret the content of the law, anticipating the most appropriate responses.
For this purpose the Racetrack is intended as road closed to traffic where reproduce in total safety critical situations that may arise in everyday driving.
The objective: to improve the driving safety of travelling staff, who are an indispensable asset of Companies, with the further advantages of the protection and good maintenance of company car fleets.
The Centro Internazionale Guida Sicura is a privileged partner of institutions in the context of professional training at the wheel.
Dorado C.I.G.S. S.p.A. was the first signatory with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transports of the Protocol “Advanced training of drivers of road vehicles with the aim of improving road safety – Guidelines on the definition of a study on the effects of Safe Driving Courses” signed with Minister Matteoli on 22.09.2009.
Our Courses of Professional Safe Driving 81/2008 already comply with the contents of the Protocol which will come in force in the future as a prerequisite for valid Ministry certification.

On the road for a sustainable future
The Safe Driving Training Course explores theoretical and practical Eco-Driving concepts in order to teach those techniques that promote an ecological use of one’s car.
Upon request a Safe Driving exercise can be replaced by a dynamic Eco Driving exercise.
A “greener” driving style ensures:
greater efficiency in terms of energy and fuel consumption;
overall reduction of car fleet wear, with positive impact on the environment and on management costs;
reduction of CO2 emissions while driving.
The objective of the Eco-Driving Courses is that of consuming the least amount of fuel possible while maintaining an average speed not below a specified value.
The average minimum speed is set in order to avoid unrealistic situations and to adapt ecological techniques to everyday driving.

[restab title=”CASE HISTORY”]
The “solid proof” of the usefulness of a Professional Safe Driving Course by the Centro Internazionale Guida Sicura.
Telecom Italy is the single Company that has taken the most complete programme of Safe Driving training in the history of the Centre: 3,302 total participants since 2007, with a programme over many years that is evidence to Telecom’s commitment to the safety of its own employees.
Of these 3,302 participants, about 80% was made up of Open Access Technicians, that is to say, those members of the company who use their cars the most in the performance of their jobs: Telecom monitored them closely to verify the actual usefulness of participation in the Courses.
1.854 Open Access Technicians Trained with Safe Driving Course until 31/12/2011
The results shown in the following slides prove without a doubt the usefulness of participation in a Safe Driving Course at the Centre.
The data for 2010 and 2011 shows a percentage of road accidents involving Technicians trained in the Course which was significantly lower to that involving non-trained staff.
The summary graph proves the usefulness of the Courses and shows that careful and safe driving also contributes to avoiding “passive” accidents, where the monitored driver is the “victim” of the accident, in contrast to “active” accidents, where the driver is the cause of the accident.
Apart from the social usefulness of safety training and the Company’s attention towards its own employees, a reduction of road accidents of this scale also involves obvious economic benefits for the Company participating in the courses, from no work absences due to injuries to the lower costs of car fleet maintenance expenses and related insurance.
Not to mention that the employee perceives the Company’s effort towards his own safety, a safety in this case not limited to the workplace, but extended to all driving situations in his own car!
[restab title=”SCHEDULE”]
The Courses can take place over 1, 1.5 or 2 days
The “standard” agenda of a 1-day Course is as follows:
Agenda, contents and programmes may vary depending on the Client’s needs, the number of participants and the duration of the course.

[restab title=”PROGRAMMA”]
The Incentive Driving Course, following a theoretical session of only 45 minutes, offers several race track laps simulating a road closed to traffic where to experiment in total safety, as well as dynamic exercises which reproduce critical situations that can present themselves in the Course of everyday driving.
The dynamic exercises offered in the 1-day Course are the following:
Correct driving technique
First session of race track laps, with practical application of the concepts previously presented in theory.
Miniskid car
Mechanical system for raising the rear axle of a front-wheel drive vehicle. The device causes over steering at slow speed to be controlled with the correct technique of handling steering wheel and accelerator.
Emergency braking while avoiding a sudden obstacle
Simulation of an emergency stop on an artificially wet surface. A luminous device determines the sudden and random need to avoid an obstacle and special photo cells detect the speed of passage in the proximity of the starting point of braking.
Driving on track with Driver-Instructor on board
Session of race track laps for a deeper understanding of the technique of individual driving: approach to curve trajectories, modulation of braking, use of the accelerator, correct exploitation of the torque power of the engine.
Slide Machine
Pneumatic plate that causes the car to suddenly slide, simulating a side impact of random direction, to be controlled on a low-grip, artificially wet surface.
Driving on track with Driver-Instructor on board and telemetry
The data acquisition system in the test phase makes it possible to constantly improve the quality of driving: use of accelerator, steering, brakes, speed. The cars and boxes communicate through a sophisticated telemetry system, in which all the indicators are monitored in a detailed analysis of the driving quality of each “Pupil”.
A graph compares the Driver-Instructor’s telemetry analysis to that of the participant’s.
Naturally more exercises will be carried out in the 1.5- and 2-day Courses, including the Eco-Driving ones.
